Sabudhana Khichidi Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp neutral oil
  • 2 cups tapioca pearls
  • 4 curry leaves
  • 2 Thai or Indian green chilis
  • 1/8 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/8 tsp cumin
  • 1/8 tsp turmeric
  • 1/8 tsp garam masala
  • 1/8 tsp coriander powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/4 cup water

Prep

Soak 2 cups of tapioca pearls (sabudhana) for 15 minutes. Then drain and fluff. Let dry for 1 hour, fluffing occasionally.

Steps

  1. Heat up 1 tbsp neutral oil in a pan. Add curry leaves, cumin seed, and sliced green chili. Cook until aromatic, but not burned
  2. Add tapioca pearls and stir in pan to coat with the oil
  3. Add salt and spices
  4. Add the cumin, turmeric, garam masala, and coriander powder. Stir into the tapioca
  5. Add water and allow it to soak into the tapioca
  6. When tapioca is cooked through and well-mixed, remove from heat
